Switch that phone to DND, find a quiet space, grab a journal and pen (if that's your thing), and let’s dive in!
Those holiday parties, tho! Everyone’s got company, and at least for one night, you can pretend you do too...right? “It’s fine. Flirt a little, toe the line, lead that person on. Drink more than you should, give in tonight. It’s just this once. Feel bad about yourself because you didn’t get that invite. Click on that. No one will know. Is it really porn if they’re kinda clothed?”
Temptation is everywhere! And unfortunately, it might not present itself as plainly as the lines above. Remember this season that while God loves you no matter what, there is an enemy out to get you. And all he wants for Christmas is to lead you into the pain, chaos and consequences that come with dishonoring God.
Read the following scriptures and answer the questions below.
1 Peter 5:8 – Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
1 Corinthians 10:12 – So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!
Where will you be most tempted this Christmas season? (pro-tip: consider loneliness & self-pity, drunkenness, bitterness & avoiding conflict, pornography/masturbation, laziness, despair, sex, guilt/shame).
If none of your friends and family followed God, would you?
What is one Bible verse or passage that you can commit to memory this holiday break to help you fight temptation? Write it down, read it multiple times a day, and ask God to help you put it into practice! (James 1:22)
Pray: God, please give me the faith, strength and accountability through godly community to stand up against temptation these next few weeks. Help me to be the person you made me to be. Thank you that you’re never mad at me when I mess up, and that Jesus paid the punishment for everything I think, say, and do that does not honor you.
